Beach Wedding at Dreams Playa Mujeres in Cancun | Lauren + Ryan

As things start to open back up, I love that it also means more destinations weddings – MY FAVORITE! I love to travel and I love to photograph couples getting married, so being able to mix the two is an absolute dream come true. And shooting at Dreams Playa Mujeres for Lauren and Ryan’s beach wedding was no different!

Wedding Ceremony on Mujeres Beach

We were so lucky that a cold front and rainy weather held off till the next day because we had the most beautiful beach setting for these two to exchange their vows! There’s nothing like the backdrop of the clear blue water of Mexico beaches.

Beach Portraits at Dreams Playa Mujeres

There’s something special about the first moments together as husband and wife. Capturing Lauren and Ryan’s portraits after their ceremony on the beach as their guests made their way to the reception was magical! As I mentioned, the weather was perfect and I couldn’t get enough of these two and the love they have for each other!

Wedding Day Details

One thing I think is a misconception of destination weddings is that you can’t have all of the vendors and details like a traditional wedding. Well as if me saying it couldn’t convince you, take a look at the gorgeous space we celebrate Lauren and Ryan in! There was truly no detail missed.

Why did they choose Dreams Playa Mujeres on Muejeres Beach?

We decided on our venue location after looking at COUNTLESS resorts online and via our travel agent. We finally narrowed our choices down to those that were kid-friendly, as we knew we wanted to have our ring bearers and flower girl present. Once we slimmed down those choices, Dreams Playa Mujeres really stood out because they offered an adults-only sister location, Secrets Playa Mujeres, right next door! This felt like we were getting two resorts in one and a fun option for those that didn’t have kids and wanted that option, too! It was also just the most stunning resort, as well. Ryan and I knew when we got engaged that we didn’t want a traditional wedding. Ry’s family and friends are all over from Virginia, New York, Maine, D.C., etc., and almost all my friends and family are in Texas (where we also reside) so it felt unfair to do a Houston wedding. When we got to talking, we finally said, let’s make it a fair playing field and go somewhere new! From there, we knew Mexico was an easy choice and a location people wouldn’t mind vacationing at!

Wedding Reception Under the Stars in Mexico

These two know how to throw a party! A night of dancing and celebrating with their guests was the perfect ending to their beautiful beach wedding. We had so much fun that the party didn’t end after the exit! We kept dancing until 2:00am while celebrating the newlyweds.
